ü FLOPPY DISK
A floppy disk,
also known as a floppy or diskette, was a type of removable storage media that
was widely used in the 1980s and 1990s to store, transfer, and share computer
data. Floppy disks were encased in a square plastic casing, usually 3.5 inches
or 5.25 inches in size, and could store a limited amount of data (typically
1.44 MB or less).
The floppy disk
was a popular choice for storing small to medium-sized files due to its
portability and low cost. However, as computer technology advanced, floppy
disks were eventually replaced by more advanced and capable storage media, such
as USB flash drives, CDs, and DVDs.
Today, floppy disks are
largely obsolete and have been replaced by modern storage technologies, but
some vintage computer enthusiasts still use them for retro computing purposes.
