ü PRINTER
A printer is a peripheral device that produces a hard copy of a digital document or image on paper or another print medium. Printers come in various forms, including inkjet, laser, thermal, and dot-matrix printers. Inkjet printers use tiny nozzles to spray ink onto the page, producing high-quality color or monochrome prints. Laser printers use toner and heat to produce high-quality, fast black and white or color prints. Thermal printers use heat to produce images on specially coated paper, and dot-matrix printers produce images by striking an ink-soaked ribbon against the page
Printers can be connected to a computer via a USB cable, a local area network (LAN), or wirelessly. Some printers are also equipped with additional features, such as scanning, copying, and faxing capabilities, and can be used as all-in-one devices. In recent years, cloud printing has become increasingly popular, allowing users to print from their smartphones, tablets, or computers to a printer located elsewhere, such as at their home or office.
ü PRINTING A DOCUMENT
Printing a
document typically involves the following steps:
Ø Open the document: Open the document
you want to print using the appropriate software, such as a word processor or
image editor.
Ø Select the Print option: Once the
document is open, look for a "Print" option in the File menu or use
the keyboard shortcut "Ctrl + P" on Windows or "Command +
P" on Mac.
Ø Choose the printer: In the Print
dialog box, select the printer you want to use from the list of available
printers. If you have multiple printers installed, you can choose the one that
is most convenient for you.
Ø Set the print options: In the Print
dialog box, you can choose the number of copies you want to print, the pages
you want to print, the orientation (portrait or landscape), and any other print
options that are available for your printer.
Ø Print the document: After setting the
print options, click the "Print" button to start the printing
process. The printer will start printing the document and you should be able to
see the progress of the print job in the printer queue.
Ø Retrieve the printed document: Once
the print job is complete, retrieve the printed document from the output tray
of the printer.
Note: Some printers may have additional features and settings, so the
steps for printing a document may vary depending on the printer you are using.
