PLUG-INS:
Plug in is a small program, or application that integrates into another program for additional functionality. It's a good way for third party developers to offer specialty features to existing, well established software. Web browsers usually host a whole range of plug ins. In computing, a plug-in is a software component that adds a specific feature to an existing computer program. When a program supports plug-ins, it enables customization. A theme or skin is a preset package containing additional or changed graphical appearance details, achieved by the use of a graphical user interface (GUI) that can be applied to specific software and websites to suit the purpose, topic, or tastes of different users to customize the look and feel of a piece of computer software or an operating system front-end GUI. Some common examples are Macromedia's Flash Player, to view flash files embedded in Web pages, Real Player for sound and video and Adobe Acrobat for viewing PDF files within a browser. Many other programs also have plug ins; Adobe Photoshop has many third party plug ins; media players such as Win amp, and sound and video editing tools also make extensive use of plug ins.
