BEND

Bend: Bend refers to the speed at which sound changes over a phone line. initially, modems used a different sound for each bit of information. Hence, baud was also used to measure the speed at which the modem could communicate. However, new ways have been introduced to send more bits with fewer changes in sound. Hence, it's better to quote modem speeds in bits per second (bps).
